I hope you all had a very enjoyable Fourth of July. Our family did not keep our traditional festivities but still managed to have a fantastic day celebrating our nation and our freedom. Jolene and I came in second in a three legged race. We also enjoyed homemade ice cream and chocolate sauce! On the chance that any of you love Chocolate as much as we do, I have decided to share with you our famous Chocolate sauce! Enjoy!
1 cup of butter (no substitutes)
4 squares (1 ounce each) unsweetened chocolate
1 cup baking cocoa
2 cups whipping cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
And do not forget the ice cream of your choice!
In a heavy saucepan over low heat, melt butter and chocolate. Stir in the sugar and cocoa until smooth. Gradually add cream; mix well. Cook for 10 minutes of until sugar is dissolved, stirring frequently. Remove from the heat; stir in vanilla. Serve over ice cream and enjoy the chocolaty goodness! Store the leftovers in the refrigerator. Makes about 5 cups.
