Christmas

This Christmas, we have had two Christmas and we still have one to go. :) One was with just our family, then with my moms family and last but not least with my dads family. I wish that people would play Christmas music through the first or second week in January. I mean they start it like two weeks before Thanksgiving, why can't they play it until the first or second week in January. Ok I will stop ranting now. I had a great time with my cousins, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Here are some pictures from our Christmas in CA. :)

Don't worry  I won. :)

The things memories are made of...

Every year we do the same thing. When people ask me about my family's traditions the answer is simple, California.
Every year since I was born, with the exception of one, we head down to see my Moms side of the family.
I always love it. The long day of driving down is more than worth it. This year we didn't do the usual leave at 3am and arrive at 11pm. We made a few extra stops along the way. One was at an Aunts who lives in Northern CA and the other was at my Uncles outside of LA.
We had a great time with them and then headed to my Grandparents. They live a mile from the beach and every year we take lots of walks down to and along the beach. It is one of my favorite things about visiting at Christmas time. This year it rained non stop. The weather was better at home than it was down there. But we did get to take one walk with most of my cousins and Grandpa. We ended up taking shadow pictures. They are very cool, if I do say so myself. We spent a good 20 mins right before sundown taking pictures. We all had a blast!
There are 17 grandchildren in this picture. Which means that there are 6 grandchildren and one great grandchild missing!

I am the "I" and Jolene didn't make the picture.

White Elephant

Christmas is a time for many things. One of my favorites are white elephant gift exchanges.
Now for those of you who do not know what a white elephant gift exchange is, The point of it is just to have fun, NOT to get a great gift. Everyone brings a gift. Then by varying methods everyone gets to pick one of the gifts. The twist is the fact that you can steal someones gift on your turn and others can steal yours. On top of all this, in my family this game means wild, wacky, junkie, non useful gifts. Which makes for some wonderful laughs.
Now, in the Morse family this means finding something in the garage. One year I was invited to a white elephant party and we had several HUGE squash, so I wrapped it up and took it. Everyone else brought really nice gifts, like chocolate. And I had brought a squash. I felt really bad. But I will say that it was really funny when the girl opened it and it was a squash!
I believe that our family has gained a reputation for amazing white elephant gifts.
Mom and Dad have given 1 pound of carabau in beer, a live chicken, a snow globe with no glass globe, and a counterfeit 500 peso bill.
As kids we have received or given, a duck wing and foot, a squash, broken pottery from Israel.
The other night Nathaniel and I went to a white elephant gift exchange. Nate took an old hurricane lamp that he couldn't figure out how to get the oil in. (The "lid" would com off) And I took a collection of old videos. I had wanted to take the old rusty log holder from our fireplace, that is no longer in use but, we couldn't find it.
Nathaniel came home with a Ferbie. Those things are the most annoying toys EVER!

Seasonal Lake

My parents bought our house 20 years ago. I have never moved!!! Well, every year we get a "lake" in our backyard, when it rains a lot. So, we joke that when we sell the house (if we ever do) that we'll put "Seasonal Lake" on it. So, we have a "lake" right now, because it keeps on raining really hard here. On Sunday, one of my eyes started to hurt. On Monday night it was really hurting so I tolled mom and she looked at my eye and said that I probably had pink eye. :( It is o most gone now!!! ya. Here are some pictures of the "lake. "

So much for free time!!!

Ok, so on Wednesday night my piano teacher called and her husband said that she needed to sleep in. Since, our piano lessons are early in the morning we didn’t have them. So, I got to sleep in on Thursday. Well, on Thursday morning a plumier and a Sears guys came too our house too fix stuff. We had a pipe that was clogged and whenever you would flush the toilet the bathtub would fill with water. Our dishwasher had a electric problem that they said could start a fire. Thin today there was a parade and I did a ton of ironing. So, that’s what I did this last couple days.

Shopping!!!!

Have I ever said I HATE shopping? Well I do. Last night I went shopping, I know your like, " What? You just said you Hate going shopping." Well, you have to go shopping sometime! So me and two of my sisters went shopping. (mom took us.) We cruised to a store and mom stated that she would see us back there at 8:15, so we replied,"ok." Well, once we found what we were looking for we strolled up to the cashier, but we didn't have the membership card with us. It was with mom or so we thought. :) Me, Mare, and Tina started to look for mom. We ran around the store at lest three times looking for her. The last time around Mare thought I cried,"there's mom," but I hadn't, then a sec later I spotted mom and exclaimed,''there's mom!" of coarse Mare thought I was teasing, but I wasn't. :) Guess where she was? Thats right, she was only a couple of feet away from were we had started!!! We asked her for the membership card, but she had left it at home! So, we had just spent the last 10 or so minutes running around the store for nothing, but we did get in are excersize. :)
