This Christmas, we have had two Christmas and we still have one to go. :) One was with just our family, then with my moms family and last but not least with my dads family. I wish that people would play Christmas music through the first or second week in January. I mean they start it like two weeks before Thanksgiving, why can't they play it until the first or second week in January. Ok I will stop ranting now. I had a great time with my cousins, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Here are some pictures from our Christmas in CA. :)

Me, Daniel, and Stephen playing cards.

Don't worry  I won. :)

The things memories are made of...

Every year we do the same thing. When people ask me about my family's traditions the answer is simple, California.
Every year since I was born, with the exception of one, we head down to see my Moms side of the family.
I always love it. The long day of driving down is more than worth it. This year we didn't do the usual leave at 3am and arrive at 11pm. We made a few extra stops along the way. One was at an Aunts who lives in Northern CA and the other was at my Uncles outside of LA.
We had a great time with them and then headed to my Grandparents. They live a mile from the beach and every year we take lots of walks down to and along the beach. It is one of my favorite things about visiting at Christmas time. This year it rained non stop. The weather was better at home than it was down there. But we did get to take one walk with most of my cousins and Grandpa. We ended up taking shadow pictures. They are very cool, if I do say so myself. We spent a good 20 mins right before sundown taking pictures. We all had a blast!
There are 17 grandchildren in this picture. Which means that there are 6 grandchildren and one great grandchild missing!

I am the "I" and Jolene didn't make the picture.

White Elephant

Christmas is a time for many things. One of my favorites are white elephant gift exchanges.
Now for those of you who do not know what a white elephant gift exchange is, The point of it is just to have fun, NOT to get a great gift. Everyone brings a gift. Then by varying methods everyone gets to pick one of the gifts. The twist is the fact that you can steal someones gift on your turn and others can steal yours. On top of all this, in my family this game means wild, wacky, junkie, non useful gifts. Which makes for some wonderful laughs.
Now, in the Morse family this means finding something in the garage. One year I was invited to a white elephant party and we had several HUGE squash, so I wrapped it up and took it. Everyone else brought really nice gifts, like chocolate. And I had brought a squash. I felt really bad. But I will say that it was really funny when the girl opened it and it was a squash!
I believe that our family has gained a reputation for amazing white elephant gifts.
Mom and Dad have given 1 pound of carabau in beer, a live chicken, a snow globe with no glass globe, and a counterfeit 500 peso bill.
As kids we have received or given, a duck wing and foot, a squash, broken pottery from Israel.
The other night Nathaniel and I went to a white elephant gift exchange. Nate took an old hurricane lamp that he couldn't figure out how to get the oil in. (The "lid" would com off) And I took a collection of old videos. I had wanted to take the old rusty log holder from our fireplace, that is no longer in use but, we couldn't find it.
Nathaniel came home with a Ferbie. Those things are the most annoying toys EVER!

Seasonal Lake

My parents bought our house 20 years ago. I have never moved!!! Well, every year we get a "lake" in our backyard, when it rains a lot. So, we joke that when we sell the house (if we ever do) that we'll put "Seasonal Lake" on it. So, we have a "lake" right now, because it keeps on raining really hard here. On Sunday, one of my eyes started to hurt. On Monday night it was really hurting so I tolled mom and she looked at my eye and said that I probably had pink eye. :( It is o most gone now!!! ya. Here are some pictures of the "lake. "

So much for free time!!!

Ok, so on Wednesday night my piano teacher called and her husband said that she needed to sleep in. Since, our piano lessons are early in the morning we didn’t have them. So, I got to sleep in on Thursday. Well, on Thursday morning a plumier and a Sears guys came too our house too fix stuff. We had a pipe that was clogged and whenever you would flush the toilet the bathtub would fill with water. Our dishwasher had a electric problem that they said could start a fire. Thin today there was a parade and I did a ton of ironing. So, that’s what I did this last couple days.

Have I ever said I HATE shopping? Well I do. Last night I went shopping, I know your like, " What? You just said you Hate going shopping." Well, you have to go shopping sometime! So me and two of my sisters went shopping. (mom took us.) We cruised to a store and mom stated that she would see us back there at 8:15, so we replied,"ok." Well, once we found what we were looking for we strolled up to the cashier, but we didn't have the membership card with us. It was with mom or so we thought. :) Me, Mare, and Tina started to look for mom. We ran around the store at lest three times looking for her. The last time around Mare thought I cried,"there's mom," but I hadn't, then a sec later I spotted mom and exclaimed,''there's mom!" of coarse Mare thought I was teasing, but I wasn't. :) Guess where she was? Thats right, she was only a couple of feet away from were we had started!!! We asked her for the membership card, but she had left it at home! So, we had just spent the last 10 or so minutes running around the store for nothing, but we did get in are excersize. :)

Pies and lots of them.

Happy day after Thanksgiving!!!!! Wednesday, some friends came over and we made pies. We kind of made too many pies, like 15, :) we were suppose to make only 8. :) We kind of made a mistake, we put to much milk in the pumpkin pie. :) So, we ended up with 8 pumpkin pies. :) Here are some pictures of the pies.(and us)
Mare and Jo making the Lemon pie.
Me and Steph did the dishes at lest three times. Thanks Steph. :)
These are most of the pies that we made.
Here we all are with the pies. The sign says," + three more". :)

Thanksgiving Traditions

In my family we never know who we will celebrate it with some years it has just been my family and others we have had a ton of people over. One year we had 12 extra people sleeping at our house. Which means that all together we had 22 people in our house. That was exciting.
There are however a few things that we do every Thanksgiving. We always make pies on Wed. We always have some friends from out of town stay at our house. And on black Friday we always get up really early and do the whole shopping thing. This year we will be spending Thanksgiving with my paternal Grandparents. We are leaving very soon for the two hour trip to there house. Then will come the laughter, food, wii, and Football.
And then back we will come for a late night with friends and early morning shopping!

Giving Thanks

The other day my mom challenged us kids to, everyday till Thanksgiving (I decided to go on for a whole year) write down 15 things that were Thankful for. So, I started to, it is really fun! I know your like, "Fun" but it is fun. :) So, I'm going to challenge you to do it too. Our fireplace just got done, so it's finely warm. Like I said I would, here are some pictures of the fireplace.

I love all the different seasons. I love the fact that where I live we have very vivid seasons.
Here are a few  things I enjoy about fall.

  • Getting to pull out and wear all ? jackets I own
  • Trees turning beautiful colors
  • The cold and rainy days as well as the crisp and sunny days
  • Umpqua dairy  has Beaver and Duck track ice cream (one of my favorites!)
  • Fires in the fireplace
  • Corn mazes
  • Thanksgiving
There are many more things that I enjoy about fall. Unfortunately I do not have the time to sit and type them all.

Christmas before it's time

I love Christmas. I love the music, the traditions, the gifts, the food. I love it all.
But, not in fall. One of the things that I appreciate about the North West is that we have all of the seasons.
Tomorrow I will do a post on the things I like about fall. But one thing I do not like, is when there is Christmas music playing and we still have two weeks till Thanksgiving. I would like to celebrate Thanksgiving with out seeing Christmas displays and hearing Christmas music. I wish that I could go back to when it was the day after Thanksgiving that all the beautiful displays came out, the 24 hour Christmas would start, and you would see everyone climbing on their roofs to put up the lights.
So I will be doing my best to ignore all of the premature Christmas noise, and enjoy the fall colors, pumpkin pie, and the strains of "Praise God from whom all Blessings Flow".

Growing up in the North West means that I have had my fair share of rain. Most people hate it.
I love it. It is on a rare occasion that I find myself tiring of the rain. I love it when it is just a gentle rain, very calming and always makes me take a deep breath and feel so relaxed. I also love going out on those days, driving, running errands, stepping outside just to sing songs about the rain with "raindrops falling on my head", and going for short walks, (with no umbrella or hood on my jacket).  The days when it pours, those are perfect for staying indoors working on projects with a hot drink close at hand.
One fall my cousins from Cal. came to visit. Every time it would rain they thought that it meant that they could sit on the couch, watch movies, and drink hot cocoa. That my friends is for when it Snows!! And even then the snow has to be a couple inches deep!! ~_*
When I hear people complain about the rain it always makes me want to grab an umbrella and find a lamp post...

This last week our adopted grandma died. She was so ready to go, she was 92 and was still leading Bible studies. :) She was the most amazing person I knew. Well, on Veteran's day most of us went to a parade with one of our friends. It was a blast, even if it was cold, muddy, and wet. :) I will post some pictures later.

My Weekend

I Love where I live!! The weather here is so crazy, but fun. This morning the sun was out , but it was raining, and now it's cloudy. So, like I said I would, here is was I did this weekend. My parents went to a retreat and us kids stayed home. Are grandparents came on Saturday and stayed tell Sunday. They got here at 9:15 ish (AM), grandpa started cutting tile for the fireplace, that we are redoing.(I will post pictures of it later.) They came, because it was Mare's and Hannah's birthday's this last week. So grandma wonted to go shopping with the birthday girls, so while the boy's worked on the fireplace the girls went shopping, well most of them. I Hate Shopping!!! Since, they were taking the car someone had to stay home, so me and my little sister Susanna stayed home and played games. :) Much better then shopping. :) I had a great time with my grandparents. That is what I did this weekend. sort of :)

This weekend, my grandparents are coming! I have no idea what we are going to do. I will tell you on Monday what we did. Today, I got all my school work done by 2:30, that includes piano, and laundry. I wonted to get on the computer but, we had to clean the house. So, when mom and mare went shopping the rest of us cleaned the house. :) When we were done cleaning I wasn't feeling good so, I laid down. Then I went outside and took some pictures. This was my day.
